Are Successful Magicians "Hucksters?" (OTO Llewellyn Author Attacks Golden Dawn Magickal Community)

David Griffin

Over the past week, the blogosphere has been abuzz again about money and Magick teaching. The whole flap started when Nick Farrell decided to close the Magikal Order of Aurora Aureae correspodence course, then wrote an article suggesting that overall interest in Magick is on the wane in the 21st Century. You can read Mr. Farrell's article, entitled "Ten Reasons Why Public Occultism is Dying" here. Peregrin Wildoak threw his two cents into the discussion on his "MAgic of the Ordinary blog here.

Frater Barrabbas
(Brian Watling)
Everything remained quite civil until Llewellyn author and OTO member, Frater Barrabbas, gratuitously launched the following personal attack on Mr. Farrell on his "Talking About Ritual Magick" blog here,
„Some folks are saying that where the past decades were the golden age, the whole [Magick] movement now is in obvious decline in the second decade of the 21st century. I am, of course, referring to yet another “counter intuitive” whining rant from Nick Farrell on his blog of personal propaganda and self aggrandizement.“
Barrabbas, Farrell, and Wildoak each raise interesting points in their articles. The subject of money and marketing in Magick atually does deserve civil debate. Name calling, like that exhibited by Frater Barrabbas, however,  belongs on the school yard playground, not coming from a putative spiritual leader.

Anyone who has been around the Magickal scene for any length of time already knows that Nick Farrell and I agree about precious little. For example, we have completely different approaches to Magick and the Golden Dawn.

Despite our differences, Nick Farrell remains a valued teacher in our Golden Dawn community. I will therefore not stand by idly while an outside agitator - in this case a Llewellyn author and OTO member- attacks the Golden Dawn community by personally attacking its leaders.

Barrabbas' attack on the G.D. community continues:
"Conversely, those teachers who engage in it expecting to be financially rewarded or by receiving the accolades of their students and peers should consider doing something else. Because they won’t ever become rich or famous teaching occultism and magic unless they become supreme hucksters like Koetting, Zink or Griffin. Even then, it isn’t guaranteed that they will be successful, but to promote one’s tradition and persona like Donald Trump is probably the only way to make occultism and magic really pay."
In addition to Magical Order of Aurora Aureae leader, Nick Farrell, Frater Barrabbas above personally attacks leaders of two other Golden Dawn orders, calling us "hucksters," together with a Satanist!

This  bahavior is so over the top that it merits a public and harsh reply to "Frater Barrabbas" - who in the real world is Brian Watling, a computer programmer and database administrator for Optuminsight in the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Here is my reply:
"Dear Brian Watling/Frater Barrabbas,
Please quit acting like such a dick. No one asked you for your opinion. Why not go back to Llewellyn and OTO and mind your own business? Peace in our Golden Dawn community has lasted nearly a year now. The GD does not need outside agitators like you stirring shit in our community."

Brian Watling calls me a "huckster." Is this true? Of course not. I am not a huckster. What I AM though is a better Magician than Frater Barrabbas will ever be in the real world.

Want proof? Fine. Here:

Even today, Brian Watling continues to slave his health away 9-5 (+overtime) at his database administrator Muggle job with Optuminsight ...

... just like he has for the past 26 years.

And me? I have been semi-retired since I was 25. That's right. For the past 35 years, I have been privileged to have had 6-7 months free each year to devote entirely to the Magick of Light.

Do you think such liberty just fell out ot the sky?

Hardly. Wake up people. I created it Magickally - And so can you.

I put a spell on myself using a rare French grimoire when I was young, conjuring the ability to master languages. Eventually mastered French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish and English. Of course, I had to work to become fluent in all these languages, but this was nonetheless the fruit of my Magickal Will

Does this make me a „huckster“? No. It does make me a linguist though. It also proves I'm a damned good Magician.

Manifesting a Muggle career that left me half the year to pursue my passion for Magick was also a product of my Magickal Will.

Such liberty does not just fall out of the sky. I created it magickally. And you can liberate yourself as well.

I am sick and tired of Magick "wannabe gurus" calling other people names - I mean these are people who can't muster enough Magickal Will  even to liberate themselves for proper time to devote to Magick.

Maybe these armchair heroes should quit harassing real Magicians - and devote themselves instead entirely to their time-slave Muggle jobs.

No wonder people like this so frequently choke on sour grapes.

And if you think they've been envious of my life until now, wait until they see what I'm about to accomplish.

I can only share a tiny part of what is coming on the horizon, but here is a piece of juicy gossip for the occult paparazzi:
"When I turned 60 this year, I took a magickal decision to retire from my Muggle job as a tour guide to devote myself not just half the year - but henceforth the WHOLE year - to empowering people with the Magick of Light  and facilitating their spiritual awakening." - David Griffin
Does this make me a huckster? No.

But it will further prove my Magickal abilities once it manifests.

NOTE: Before the occult tabloids rake me over the coals again, lets be clear about this. I still plan to lead a couple of Muggle tours each year despite my retirement. I ENJOY guiding tourists from around the world through America.

No doubt there will be others like Frater Barrabbas who will come along and call me names for devoting my life all year to Magick. Believe me. Such people would be better off to quit gnashing their teeth on sour grapes, and prove their worth as Magiciansinstead  by transforming their OWN lives.

Next Frater Barrabbas compares me with Donald Trump. This part is really silly.
Although I am flattered by the comparison, I am nothing like Donald Trump. I am younger than Donald Trump. I am better looking than Donald Trump. And most importantly - I have a LOT more hair than Donald Trump!

But there is ONE thing Donald Trump and I do have in common. Donald Trump is courageous enough to speak his mind and to tell people even uncomfortable truths.

As any reader of our Golden Dawn Facebook group (here) will attest, there are certain issues I am passionate about - like healing our environment, the right of American citizens not to be spied on without a warrant, and rampant abuse of government secrecy.

For example, Trans Pacific Partnership negotiations concluded yesterday, yet the American people are still in the dark about the full contents of this treaty. According to Wikileaks documents, this treaty could have profound effects on American sovereignty, potentially even dragging us into globalism in an EU-like "Pacific Union" - effectively abolishing our constitution.

People - wake up! Open your eyes to what is going on around you.

At a minimum, these issues need to be discussed openly, publicly, and thoroughly. We Americans have a right to know and to legitimately participate in determining which direction our nation will take.

Lastly, the underlying reason Frater Barrabbas calls me a "huckster" is because he doesn't like that our order uses 21st Century marketing. Well, guess what - so does Optuminsight - the tech company Brian Watling works for.

Big deal. Get over it.

I have no problem with Bryan Watling voicing his opinion about marketing in occultism, even though he is wrong. He just shouldn't call people names. There is no call for that.

Besides - Let's remember that our order, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn under the Alpha Omega is the largest and fastest growing Golden Dawn order in the world. In fact, today we are growing three times faster than ever before.

Success is my proof. I must be doing something right.

And yes - This is my REAL hair!

Magick teachers across the web lost it this week. First Frater Barrabbas pitched a fit attacking Golden Dawn leaders here. (Here is my reply).

It turns out Frater Barrabbas isn't alone. Over on his Head For the Red blog, Rufus Opus lost it today as well, with this:

"Did anything good ever come out of Pahrump? ...
Nope! - Rufus Opus

This is transparent to anyone in the Magickal community, since our order (the European headquartered Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn) has its American Mother Temple in Pahrump, Nevada.

"Why are these "Spiritual leaders" acting like food fighting fifth graders?"
To begin with, where other orders don't, we teach you Magick from DAY ONE. Our order doesn't leave you hanging where the Magick Israel Regardie published leaves off either.

But why all these sour grapes from Magick teachers outside the Golden Dawn?

They know that they are no competition at all for us. We just finished ungrading our Magickal training program, which now includes:

  • G.D. magick beyond anything Israel Regardie published
  • 24 live webinars per year
  • 21st centurty teaching methods
  • A completely fresh look and web design.

"We give our students such thorough training and great value, other Magick teachers are pulling their hair out!"
See for yourself what the fuss is about here!

In my recent article, "Are Successful Magicians "Hucksters?“ here, I made the following surprise announcement:
"When I turned 60 this year, I took a magickal decision to retire from my Muggle job as a tour guide to devote myself not just half the year - but henceforth the WHOLE year - to empowering people with the Magick of Light  and facilitating their spiritual awakening.
Does this make me a huckster? No. But it will further prove my Magickal ability once it manifests.“
Reaction on the Blogosphere was quick and loud ...

Nick Farrell wrote:
"They might have disdain for it, but how many occultists don't have a day job? The Kybalion is nothing to do with magic or occultism. It is new thought from the 19th century (a precursor to the new age movement) . If anyone expects real magicians to work along those bogus beliefs then it is not surprising. But there are similar concepts that a magician has to be benign, loving and saint-like."
Morgan Eckstein wrote:
"A lot of people look sideways at my muggle job--erotica writing."
Scott Stenwick on his Augoeides blog in an article entitled "Regarding Muggle Jobs“ here wrote:
"For a true magician, magick is part of everything, so in that sense there's no such thing as a "muggle job." I use magick to solve difficult technical problems at work, to deal with political and interpersonal issues, and to make sure the best opportunities come my way. I'm not going to stop writing any time soon because I love writing, but barring some incredibly unlikely sequence of events I'll never be able to live off it. And you know what? I'm okay with that."
Over on his Hermaculture blog, Spencer M. Graves in an atticle entitled: "Muggle Jobs" and the Prosperity Theology of Occultism“ wrote here:
"If anything, I would tend to argue that trying to make a living from one's magic runs the risk of severely detracting from one's magical work...
"Moreover, while I certainly don't think it's vulgar or inappropriate for a person to make money in the esoteric field from writing, teaching classes, performing services, or what have you, when you try to turn that into a full-time venture it necessarily means that the focus is no longer primarily on the quality and intrinsic value of the material being offered.  You've got to sell something to pay the bills, which means that money takes the front seat.  And when that happens, when spirituality becomes commodified--that's when things take a turn for the vulgar.  Frankly, I trust a magician who has a day job a lot more than one whose livelihood depends on selling me something.“
Perhaps I have not been clear. Let me explain. When I speak derisively of "Muggle Jobs", I speak derisively of our entire civilisation and the economic system that has enslaved mankind. The below video sums this up pretty well.

What the producers of the video do not show is that the way out of this mess is not by changing the system. The way out is spiritual.

How? "Know Thyself"!
  • Remember who you truly are.
  • Awaken to your Solar Self
In reality, you are an immortal Divine being of pure starfire who has fallen in vibration - from the universe inside light - to a material vibration where you became embodied in a meat suit.  Stories of fallen angels refer to the esoteric truth of your fall into planetary reality from the stars. Like Angles rising to heaven on wings of fire,  we can ascend to to the stars with our light suits.
You are more than you know. Your present sense of self - Who you experience yourself to be - is an illusion created by your identification with thoughts, feelings, and sensory perceptions. Disidentify from these things and you peel back onion-like layers of illusion until you can be your true Self that lies beyond. As you remember, you will also recall your abilities, awakening into consciousness on a multiverse of inner planes that exist beyond the physical.

Not everyone is ready for the spiritual awakening. Many will likely just keep reincarnating endlessly on this planet. I will not incarnate here again.  Life on Earth is becoming less and less free. The environment is a disaster. I don't want any part what will likely happen.

Ultimate freedom exists in our light bodies inside the stars.

You don't have to remain forever on this slave planet.

Ascend with me as I rise from this cocoon of flesh triumphant on wings of starfire!

Cast off the chains of matter and death ...

      Awaken to your Solar Self!

      Dinero y la Aurora Dorada

      Por Aurora Dorada Imperator
      David Griffin

SHOCKING TRUTH: NSA Targeting Golden Dawn Community?

      David Griffin

For decades, the Golden Dawn community has come under repeated defamation attack on the Internet from anonymous trolls defaming various G.D. leaders. I know I am putting my neck on the line by presenting evidence strongly indicating what is behind this, but I am not easily intimidated.

The present worst offender is an "anonymous" blog, which according to Golden Dawn leader, Martin Thibeault is operated by Andrew Martini who, according to confidential informants, is a CIA covert operative stationed in Japan. Martini adidtionally operates a YouTube channel dedicated to on-line defamation of Golden Dawn leaders

      Alleged CIA Operative Andrew Martini

Over the years,  the blog in question has attacked leaders all across the Golden Dawn community. These have included Nick Farrell, Martin Thibeault, Robert Zink, and myself. In this latest attack, Martini engenders false rumors about a right wing conspiracy within the Golden Dawn spiritual community.

Alleged CIA covert operative, Andrew Martini, writes:
"Never happy unless he is pushing a right-wing agenda, the former Head of the Order of the Morning Star Robert Zink..."

Such defamation is particularly odious in light of the terrible damage already done to our community's reputation due to right wing extremists in Greece calling themselves Golden Dawn, although they have nothing at all to do with the Golden Dawn spiritual tradition.

"It is high time the Golden Dawn community take a united stand against covert defamation manipulating our community for nefarious reasons." - David Griffin

Everyone who has been around for any length of time knows that there is precious little that Robert Zink and I agree on. His whole approach to the Golden Dawn is entirely different than mine.

I will, however, always come to the defense of ANY Golden Dawn leader attacked in covert ops defamation.

Whistleblower and American civil liberties hero, Edward Snowden, carefully documented how US intelligence agencies routinely target on-line communities for defamation attack, in an attempt to steer and manipulate those communities.

      Edward Snowden
      Modern Paul Revere
You can read about NSA covert online ops in courageous American journalist, Glenn Greenwald's fine article here.

      Glenn Greenwald (Left)
Over the past 20 years, it has become more and more obvious that defamation attacks against the Golden Dawn spiritual community are not random. This became crystal clear last February (see my article here), when a mole inside a private Facebook group leaked the below "Target List" of spiritual leaders.

Note that this "Target List" includes spiritual leaders from both the USA and Australia.
      • Rowan Pendragon
      • David Mattichik
      • Frater ATLV
      • Starhawk
      • EA Koetting
      • Kevin Carlyon
      • Elish De Avalon
      • Lizzy Rose
      • She' D' Montford
      • Leslie Grififn
      • David Griffin
One person on the list Thelemite, David Mattachik, had his name crossed off, having passed away under questionable circumstances.

      David Mattichik

Another person on the list Black Magician, E.A. Koetting, was just arrested in a highly suspicious drug bust, with police attempting to justify a warrentless search due to an "anonymous" tip.

      E.A. Koetting
Such NSA and CIA dirty tricks have been thoroughly documented in the Edward Snowden documents as well.

At first glance, the above "Target List" looks quite diverse. You have Golden Dawn leaders, Pagan leaders, a Thelemic leader, and even a Black Magician. Once those on the list began comparing notes though, it became clear to us what one thing we all have in common: Each person on the target list has been targeted with defamation by anonymous trolls over extended periods of time.

The clincher though was when we discovered that whether we lived in the USA or Australia, the tactics and strategies used for covert defamation were identical, as though the numerous trolls were following same rules of engagement from an identical play book or operations manual.

Add to this the huge number of propaganda videos on YouTube deliberately conflating the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn with the Illuminati. I document some of these in this recent video.

Put all of this together and a clear picture emerges not of some random trolls with an irrational hatred of the Golden Dawn - but of a hyper-paranoid security state terrified of any legitimate spiritual movements!

In short, it is becoming painfully obvious who is really behind two decades of "anonymous" defamation a against the Golden Dawn community:

A Spell To Bind Daesh: World-Wide Spellworking On Winter Solstice!

This Winter Solstice, hundreds of Magicians, Witches, and Shamanic practitioners will perform synchronised rituals to bind Daesh to prevent them from doing further harm from others. We will coordinate launching our Magickal intentions at the precise minute of Winter Solstice at 7:48 PM PST on 12/21/15.

Raped Women Are Stoned for Adultery
In recent years, the world has witnessed the group of a group of Islamic Jihadi extremists best called „Daesh“ misappropriate the name of the Egyptian Goddess Isis, then commit all manner of atrocities misusing that name. These are people that stone women for adultery, behead women for witchcraft, and kill all Christians, Pagansm, Jews or Yezidi that refuse to convert to Islam. You can read about these atrocities among other places here. If this weren't enough, these folks destroy cultural ruins of human history everywhere they go. You can read about this here.

Christians, Pagans, and Jews Executed Unless They Convert To Islam
Unfortunately, there exists substantial evidence that Daesh has been secretly funded by Saudi Arabia and armed by the USA. You can read more about this among many other places, here. With the Solstice Ritual, it is only Daesh we are binding, but we will include cutting off of Daesh from all funding and supplies in the rite.

I strongly encourage you to use your OWN Magick, and just synchronise the timing of your intention with us. In the past couple of days, however, many people have written me for advice about how to do a binding spell. I therefore asked Golden Dawn Cancellaria, Leslie McQuade, to prepare a simple spell for you to use on this occasion.

Since Leslie and I are also iniates HPS and HP of the Hibernian line of Alexandrian Wicca, Leslie has prepared the following binding spell for your convenience, based on the Spellworking principles of Alexandrian Witchcraft. Feel free to use it and coordinate your intention with ours on Monday night.

      A Binding Spell for Daesh
      by HPS Leslie McQuade
      Hibernian Line of Alexandrian Wicca

[CAPS SAY OUT LOUD WITH CONVICTION, CONFIDENCE & CERTAINTY, lowercase is stage direction]

Materials: paper, scissors, red string. Optional: box of dirt and packing tape.

Make a totem to represent Daesh. I recommend printing out an 81/2 x 11 poster of their flag. or anything else (or poppet or statue or whatever) that helps you concentrate on those who have sworn allegiance to Daesh.  If you are using paper, roll, fold or wad it in such a way that you can wrap a considerable amount of string around it.

Find a crossroads to go to (even if you can only do it in your mind) and stand at the center of it,
Hold the totem in your right hand , and the red string in your left ~ be sure to leave a tail so you have another bit to tie with.

NINE TIMES I BIND YOU DAESH
DAESH I BIND YOU NINE TIMES
      THE HARM YOU DO
      COMES BACK TO YOU
TIMES ONE [wrap the totem one time with the red string]
NINE TIMES I BIND YOU DESH
DAESH I BIND YOU NINE TIMES
      THE HARM YOU DO
      COMES BACK TO YOU
TIMES TWO [wrap the totem two times with the red string]
NINE TIMES I BIND YOU DAESH
DAESH I BIND YOU NINE TIMES
      THE HARM YOU DO
      COMES BACK TO YOU
TIMES THREE [wrap the totem two times with the red string]
Etc. etc. four through nine, in the same pattern
      COMES BACK TO YOU
TIMES NINE (wrap the totem nine times with the red string]
NINE TIMES I’VE BOUND YOU DAESH
DAESH I’VE BOUND YOU NINE TIMES
As you cut the string say
DAESH IS CUT OFF FROM ALL MEANS OF SUPPORT AND FINANCING
Put the totem under your left foot as you say
THE SPELL IS DONE [tie a knot]
THE SPELL IS DONE [tie a knot]
THE SPELL IS DONE [tie a knot]
      SO MOTE IT BE

Now take the whole thing to a crossroads [3, 4, or 5 way, do not use a roundabout] & bury it in the center, about 6 inches down. If you are at the crossroads in your mind, bury it in a box of dirt, seal up the box completely with packing tape, and then chuck it in the garbage. Either way, your totem will be buried forever somewhere no one can find or unbind it.

SMACKDOWN: David Griffin OWNS A.A. Boss Paul Joseph Rovelli

      David Griffin

On the heels of our recent Solstice working to bind Daesh, the naysayers and Magick debunkers are coming out of the woodwork this morning. Surprisingly, one of one such naysayer turned out to be A.A. boss Paul Joseph Rovelli, leader of the "Gnostic Church of LVX." I think you might find our interaction from this morning entertaining. I had been waiting to give this guy a piece of my mind ever since he attacked Donald Michael Kraig while he was dying of cancer.
      Paul Joseph Rovelli
Paul Joseph Rovelli:And we can see how well this ignorant idea worked...people that think magick is just like the prayers of the superstitious religions...always asking for boons from God...are practicing pure inanity.

David Griffin: Ignorant? Hey, I'm not surprised to hear you making such remarks. This sadly shows you don't seem to understand very well how Magick really works. Heck, judging from your words, you apparently don't even BELIEVE in Magick. Why am I not surprised,  considering how you attacked Donald Michael Kraig and his family while Don was in bed DYING of cancer. Hey, Roveli, since I never had the chance to tell you before, thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you now and to your face to your face what an asshole move that was. Judging by the Kraig incident, Paul Rovelli is not a nice person.

Paul Joseph Rovelli:Ad hominem attack is the favorite tool of intellectually inferior people...thanks for making it so obvious. And yes, belief is the tool of superstitious people...magick for those withears, operates outside this realm.

David Griffin:I notice you never attacked Kraig when he was alive and writing on the Llewellyn blog. No. You waited until he was dying and couldn't defend himself. Or do you only attack the weak and dying?

Paul Joseph Rovell: No I waited until his fundraiser came into my church fundraiser to try to divert funds from my efforts...and we see how the superstitious healing ritual worked regarding his cancer...eh?

David Griffin:So the reason you attacked Donald Michael Kraig on his deathbed was because our fundraising for his medical bills was diverting money from YOU!?!?!?!?! Now I really think you are a not a good person.

David Griffin:Yeah, right. "All magick is superstition" is the position you are arguing. Sorry. You are just plain wrong.

Paul Joseph Rovelli:No...magick means wisdom and miracles are superstition...the formulae of magick requires tools, such as the magickal link, which was missing in your futile and ignorantly unsuccessful rite...just like your unsuccessful craigmhealing...and likemchristian prayer...asking for boons...superstitious andmstupid...magick uses a greater intell7gence than your obviously capable of.

David Griffin:To begin with Paul, your assumption that "either you see the effects of Magick overnight or it didnt work" is just plain ignorant of how Magick really works. What kind of a Magick teacher makes statements like this? Hey, Paul I hear that James Randi is hiring. You would fit right in on his team of sceptics and debunkers.
Paul Joseph Rovelli:And again, all you can do is attack my character and not my argument...very foolish.

David Griffin: Actually, I atacked your assumption that "either you see the effects of Magick overnight or that proves it was all just superstation.“ Such a foolish statement shows very little understanding about Magick. Care to defend that argument now that people see it for what it really is?

Paul Joseph Rovelli:Gotta go now, but hey, keep on whining...and while your at it, show us the proof of when and how your magick will work.

David Griffin:Of course you have to go now that you are cornered to actually defend an intellectual position instead of just name calling for a change. You should really think about taking that job with occult debunker, James Randi. Randi uses the same ridiculous arguments against Magick and Magicians that you do. The only difference between you, Paul, and James Randi is that James Randi doesn't pretend to be a Magick teacher. James Randi at least is open and honest about being a sceptic and a debunker, whereas you pretend to be a Magician while you recite James Randi's litany of arguments. I pity the students who to come to learn Magick from a debunker pretending to be a Magick teacher. You Sir, are like the blind leading the blind.
Was I too harsh on Rovelli? I don't think so. He deserved it. Paul Rovelli is the guy who attacked the entire Golden Dawn community because we were fundraising to help with Donald Michael Kraig's medical bills while he was dying of cancer. What kind of person does something like this? Paul Rovelli is not a good person and I am grateful to have finally had the opportuinty to say it to his face.

Before I close for today, so this email isn't just about gossip, Rovelli’s arguments give me the chance to clear up a couple of points about Magick and Spellcasting:

      1. Don’t expect results overnight.

Magick doesn’t work like that. Magick does frequently produce profound results in the outer world, but things don't usually happen overnight. Just like any plant, you begin by planting seeds. Eventually, there will be fruit, but don’t expect it tomorrow.

      2. Magickal links are important.

Rovelli is correct that Magick works better with a direct link to the target. Rovelli doesn’t seem to understand though that such a Magickal link can be anything from as personal as hair or nail clippings to as abstract as the logo of a company or the flag of a country. In the recent Daesh working, for example, I used the Daesh flag for this purpose. Sure, I would rather have used the turban of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, but the Daesh flag worked quite nicely any way.

      3. Faith Based Magick.

Rovelli is wrong in condemning faith based Magick. Clearly, you do not need faith for Magick to work. There are other kinds of Magick that work completely without faith. But if faith based Magick didn't work at all, Christians wouldn’t still be using prayer the way they do 2,000 years later. There are ways to make this kind of Magick work even better as well. By understanding the esoteric and magickal principles that underly faith based Magick, you can make it even more effective than simple prayer. This is one of the things we cover in our new Spellworking course.

      More to come soon.

Occultists Claim "Magick is NOT Real!" Scathing Attack on Griffin & McQuade

      $

      0
      Fellow Magician,

Earlier today, anonymous naysayers wrote a scathing article on an occult paparazzi blog attacking Leslie McQuade and I.

Basically, they said the binding spell, which hundreds of Magicians and Witches worldwide took part in on Dec 21, had no effect on Daesh - and I am being delusional by claiming articles I posted (which were written AFTER the spell, showing serious damage to Daesh) had very rational and non-magical explanations.

No doubt there are non-magical explanations for ALL the damage Daesh sustained after we cast our binding spell and directed the damage Daesh does back on them.

What experienced Magician can't come up with perfectly non-magical explanations for ALL their spells?

What skeptic can't deny the power of Magick and miracle if they want to?

Funny enough, the naysayers point out the damage to Daesh was the result of Russian fighter jets and a vastly overwhelming force at the city of Rahmadi.

I'm not sure what they'd like to see to prove the spell worked!

Perhaps if a ray of magical energy blazed out of my eyes like Superman, then down from the sky and tied itself around all of the Daesh terrorists and leaders, then transmogrified like in a Harry Potter movie into ropes and chains to keep them from doing anymore harm...

Perhaps then the naysayers would be satisfied.

Here's the truth: Magick is REAL.

It's not a coincidence that those news stories came out mere days after hundreds of magicians banded together and raised our power to keep Daesh from hurting anyone else.

It was the manifestation of our united will into this world.

It was confirmation that what we did - worked!

And making fun of Leslie and I for pointing out how much power YOU raised, and congratulating YOU, our fellow magician, for making a positive change in the world with your magick…

Well it's just ignorant and inexcusable.

It was shocking that they started picking apart Leslie's spell, which she created to help others who needed some guidelines.

Neither one of us wanted to impose OUR Magickal systems on anyone, so the spell was very, very generic, which isn't to say it isn’t powerful, just that it wasn't designed using only one tradition.

Some people used Leslie's spell, others used their own. Didn't matter, the intent and result was the same, Daesh got pummeled by Russian jets and Iraqi forces.

Oh yea, that's another thing the occult paparazzi claimed...

… because much of the damage done to Daesh was done by Russian jets, and Daesh doesn’t have a air force, then that couldn't have been a result of the massive, worldwide cooperative spell we cast.

Clearly, the only way murder can come back on the murderers in a binding spell, is by killing them in EXACTLY, PRECISELY the same way they murdered.

It's really rather sad on their part.  I wouldn’t even mention it except that they are making light of the good YOU have done for the world by raising YOUR magickal will with all the other magicians around the world.

Remember, Magick is real. We can make a difference.

You are empowered, and we thank you for helping to end the murderous thugs who tried to steal the name of the Goddess Isis.

Our magickal will has just begun to manifest - and Daesh will find each time they hurt someone it will come back on them in spades!

      In Abundance, Power, and Truth,
      David Griffin

PS.  Remember to watch the free videos Leslie and I will be posting in the next few weeks about Spellworking and how you can work spells to manifest your dreams.

And thank you again for fighting Daesh with us!

Secrets of Aeonic Spellworking (Binding Daesh)

      $

On the Winter Solstice on December 21 a grass roots, worldwide movement of Magicians, Witches, and Shamanic practitioners, synchronised independent Aeonic rituals in order to bind the terrorist group called Daesh, so that Daesh will be unable to continue to cause harm to others and so that the results of such harm shall fall back on them. This recent magical working against Daesh has generated a tidal wave of enthusiasm from hundreds of practitioners  dedicated to utilizing spellcraft not only for their own personal benefit, but also for promoting greater consciousness in the world we live in.

It has also generated extensive discussion and controversy, however, about the viability of using magick to work non-local change.  Some of this discussion has been confused with habitual skepticism about the feasibility of using magick to create any change at all, or the verifiability of magical success.  These objections, however, can be raised against any working, since magick (contrary to many mistaken pretensions of the modern occult revival) is not science.  However, it is also not religion.  We can at least agree with A.A. Boss, Paul Joseph Rovelli, on that latter point, though we would also reject that magick’s methods are those of science, or that its aims are those of religion.  We’ve already addressed Rovelli’s generic internet attacks, and so in this post we will move on to respond to the more detailed criticisms of "pulp magick" Llewellyn author, Brian Watling, who writes for Llewellyn under the pseudonym, Frater Barrabbas.

Along the way, we’ll also share some insights and speculations concerning perspectives and techniques useful to the practice of aeonic magick, to which some of our readers might be now being introduced for the first time.  We contend that aeonic magick – briefly summarized as magical operations oriented toward producing psycho-historic change -- is not only a viable application of the magical will of the adept, but indeed vital to initiatory development.  This means understanding aeonic magick is critical to your magical progress even if you are a solitary practitioner!

Aeonic magick is to personal spellcasting as political skill is to subtle persuasion.  But just as you can't totally avoid the political world, sometime even if you're a hermit, aeonics affect your magical practice whether you're aware of it or not!  It has a long history, although not necessarily by that term, which is a contemporary one.  Initially the importance of aeonics seems to have been due to the importance of magical worldviews in spawning civilization – subsequent developments in religion, science, and art have frequently been fueled, or even inspired by magical workings.

The influence of shamanism on early pagan religions is fairly uncontroversial, and a brief review of early oral traditions, later written down, like the Rig Veda, makes it obvious that quite lot of magick for the success and flourishing of a culture against its enemies was being performed along the early boundary between shamanic magick and priestcraft.  Similar references appear throughout the rites of the ancient Persian Magi, although these were admittedly rather conflict-obsessed.

In later pagan times, priests associated with state religions would routinely perform operative theurgy for political or military purposes; the Romans were relentlessly enthusiastic about this, and ultimately adopted foreign cults into Rome frequently for this sort of purpose.  Even Christian bishops claimed such effectiveness for their prayers, infamously taking credit for the death of Julian, struck down by a Persian spear.

More plausible specific examples of magical warfare are more accessible in the recent historical record, such as the storm legendarily conjured by John Dee to destroy the Spanish armada, the contributions of voudonic magicians to the successful Haitian Revolution, or the renowned occult war efforts of Dion Fortune, Aleister Crowley, and others against National Socialist Germany.  Occultists and magicians on both sides of the war vied to influence regimes and outdo each other.

This didn't stop with Allied victory! Contemporary examples are lesser known, and although overt assertions of success in this regard are unusual, they are not unheard of.  Peter Carroll has claimed that the Illuminates of Thanateros contributed through magical working to the overthrow of Ceausescu, for example, and continues to promote British resistance to the European Union.

This is just one example of chaos magical interest in attacking politically repressive targets; in Liber Null and Psychonaut Carroll suggests aeonic magick as a primary activity of the Adept, and in later work he proposed a sample ritual for this purpose entitled (rather ironically now, we think) the Jihad of Chaos. Initiates associated with the Arcane Order of the Black Sun reputedly used magick in the favor of the successful 2004-2005 “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine, and London’s “Dionysian Underground” inspired by the late Steve Ash routinely performed magical workings for political purposes in the UK for a decade. Many of these groups, and numerous others as well, known and unknown, continually add their wills and intentions to the chaos of the socio-political world.

But aeonics isn't just for elite political manipulators, power-thirsty schemers, or idealistic revolutionaries!  These contemporary examples demonstrate that although the historical record favors references to elite magicians working with political figures in this regard, this is due more to the disparity of concerns between rulers and the ruled than it is to any limitation on the applicability of magick to socio-cultural and psycho-historic conditions.  There are plenty of cases in the pre-modern world in which practitioners lacking direct access to political power still attempted to use magick to influence leaders or the state, but this would have been regarded as criminal (in Rome, for example) or in later cases, heretical.  In one famous case, Roman officials believed that the numerous poppets and curse paraphenalia found under a senator’s bed had caused his death, and took this seriously enough to enact a judicial process.  James VI was paranoid of witches, but they really might have been out to get him through a failed magical assassination attempt.

In general, the historical record is unlikely to preserve any reference to attempts at magical influence on political actors unless these actors have been involved in magick themselves, or unless a judicial process has occurred as a result.  Certainly magick for personal purposes has been, and probably always will be, more common place.  But this does not mean there is any reason to believe that a magician lacking mundane access to political power might not have attempted to influence the political process, despite not being directly involved with the rulers and leaders of the land.  In fact, the contemporary practitioner is in a much better position in this regard due to the increasing shrinkage of the global community, particularly due to the potential opportunities for coordinated efforts offered by the internet and social media.  In fact, without them you probably wouldn't be reading this!

But don't buy everything (or even most things) that you see on social media. It is not uncommon in personal magical practice for one apparent intention to conceal another; this technique is used in ways ranging from completely benign, such as the stage magick used in some shamanic healings, to the thoroughly malevolent, such as the combination of pharmacology and misdirective implications of death magick to produce voudonic zombies.  Michael Aquino famously rejects government and military use of operative magick in his MindWar research, based on its inefficiency, but he goes on to promote disinformation campaigns waged for the purpose of creating a reality shared by citizens and enemies alike in which the victory of the state is inevitable – an application of what his Temple of Set would refer to as “Lesser Black Magic” in all but name.

Full blown ceremonial and ritual magick can be used with a similar diversity of intentions, and it is extremely naïve to suppose that every occult war effort --- particularly one performed out in the open --- is as linear in its intentions as victory prayers.  Certainly, in the same way that Frater Barrabbas suggests that the material basis of a binding operation can actually be shown to the target to enhance the psychological effect, chaos magicians have frequently observed that war magick can effectively involve much more posturing and propaganda than full-blown death magick.

Had we been organizing a spell to kill the so-called “Caliph” of Daesh, we would not have used Facebook.  Every adept should recognize that in aeonic magick, it is not only the effects of the spell or ritual which are at issue, but also the way such effects are perceived, understood, experienced, or received by observers and the masses, by the casters themselves, and also by those who may believe themselves to be the targets of the operation.  Even an aeonic operation that appears very straightforward may be anything but!

With this introduction to the important heritage of aeonic magick and occult warfare in esoteric tradition, we’re going to address Frater Barrabbas’s specific points about magical theory, and then conclude with some observations that we hope may inspire further discussion.

The Frater’s first main technical point is that there is no reason to combine binding and reflection.  This misses the point that harm already wrought can still be reflected upon the guilty in a magical working of retribution and punishment.  It is as if Barrabbas believes that there may be reason to imprison someone, but not also to fine them.  Of course, judicial systems frequently impose both incarceration and financial penalty, and our interest in both restraining Daesh and subjecting it to retaliation seems to us to be both just and prudent.

Next, let’s consider Frater Barrabbas’s Kardashian example, despite it being a rather poor comparison since it is totally irrelevant to issues of psycho-historic change or trends, such as a case of attempting to empower or disempower a movement or ideology like Daesh.  What might happen to an adept who (for whatever reason) decides to attempt to magically enamor Kim Kardashian? The most likely outcome, as Frater Barrabbas rightly suggests, is failure, followed by the creation of an independent obsession.

But let’s delve further into the example, the way a very determined magician might do, who was truly intending to experience a relationship (or at least a hookup) with Kim Kardashian.  As Frater Barrabbas also predicts, the obsession is likely to become autonomous given a lack of opportunity to manifest, so the magician will probably dream about her.  If he is able to ignore the dreams, repress them, or use them as an opportunity to cast more spells, he may end up meeting someone who embodies what Kim Kardashian subjectively means to him.  This seems to fit with Frater Barrabbas’s idea that the real target of any such operation is not the real person (unknown to the magician) but only the magician’s idea of the target.

This also generally holds true, except that once the idea of the target is properly bound and controlled, a sufficiently determined or obsessed practitioner will eventually acquire real information about, and perhaps even a real connection to, such a target.  It is at this point that the real danger of stalking arises – who knows how many mentally unbalanced celebrity stalkers might, under other circumstances, have had the necessary talent and obsession to become practicing magicians.  In this sense, the initial working becomes only a preliminary working, the same way that on a personal level, novices are more likely to produce subjective changes than objective ones in their early practice, such as discovering that their enemy “disappears from their life” rather than disappearing from life itself.

This can cause some magicians – even experienced magicians – to develop the ultimately undermining and self-defeating view that magick is intended to produce only such subjective results, more and more pervasively.  This attitude can lead to the solipsism Frater Barrabbas seems to be concerned about, and it should be avoided.  Yet, we would never tell a novice that if he or she cursed an enemy to destruction and then never heard from that person again, that the novice was a failure, a time-waster, or delusional.  We would instead encourage them to develop increasing discrimination, diligence, and discernment, and cultivate opportunities for increasingly literal results.  One way of developing such power is looking for them, and one way of compensating for a lack of magickal link is to become inundated with information about, and attention to, the subject.

This is, of course, also a way to become very obsessed.  So once our hypothetical caster has begun to conjure all kinds of literal and symbolic Kim Kardashianity into his reality, and finally overflows into actually developing connections to her, he must indeed navigate the dangers of becoming a stalker or becoming consumed by this obsession.  The breaking point likely comes when he finally gets enough of a connection to directly experience that Kim Kardashian is nothing like “Kim Kardashian,” which is, in fact, a successful spell result, since by this point the magician will have summoned someone or something (possible multiple someones) much closer to his original symbolic desire.  However, once he does have a real connection to Kim Kardashian, he still has the opportunity for a presumably much less problematic (but much less satisfying) conjuration.

It should be clear why this was a rather poor comparison to Daesh on the part of Frater Barrabbas, but hopefully indulging it has allowed us to demonstrate a significant point: our spell is, of course, directed at the idea of Daesh, because, after all, Daesh is only an idea, and a fraudulent one at that: a spurious state, with a confabulated Caliph, implausibly Islamic, even more clearly a golem fueled by Western arrogance and hubris than Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, the latter of which at least had the merits of confounding Soviet ambitions in Afghanistan.

Frater Barrabbas compared Daesh to a boogeyman similar to the former Soviet Union, and although he rightly points out that most Americans overestimated the power and threat posed by the USSR, he somehow overlooks the point that it did embody corruption, evil, and stupidity, and the idea it represented was rightly vilified and deserved to be undone.  That doesn’t mean that all ideological efforts against it were somehow either redundant or solipsistic; it means that in focusing on reinforcing ideological rejection of the Soviet Union, they contributed their conviction to its collapse.

Frater Barrabbas describes the Daesh we know in the West as a “dark shadow.” Indeed, this shadow has already cast itself into the West in the form of repeated terrorist actions, the recruitment of Western Muslims as well as immigrants, and the further darkening of the Western perception of Islam, itself a consequence surely promoted by the real creators of this political golem.  What better way to combat an entity created by the political black magick of nefarious manipulators – than with magick?  That our spell coincides with military victory demonstrates its aeonic coherence; the acausal synchronicities of spellworking can be neither proven nor disproven, but they can be experienced.  To experience them aeonically presents the opportunity for the practitioner to establish resonance between personal life and psycho-historical currents, and it is these currents which may carry the magician beyond adeptitude.

Yet, we recognize that many magicians, even many adepts, may deliberately choose an apolitical path.  They may purposely reject involvement with the themes, ideas, and currents of this aeon, or any aeon.  There are other paths across the Abyss, and other paths deeper into it.  But such a choice should be made based on an apprehension of the magician’s own disposition, not the spurious and ultimately corrosive idea that magick is by definition confined in its influence and significance to the “personal life,” especially since those who have yet to experience the gnosis of the adept are barely “persons” to begin with.  It is through interaction with, and inspiration by, transpersonal powers and forces that the personality of the adept is created, shaped, and fashioned.

We find it particularly ironic that Frater Barrabbas chose to evaluate this aeonic working from the perspective of the solitary pragmatic magician, when he himself is clearly a religious practitioner presumably engaged in ceremonial and ritual magick deriving its aeonic momentum from the ideological and theological egregores of Wicca and Thelema.  These traditions utilize magical techniques to fulfill religious and mystical aspirations, and also draw upon the shared beliefs and egregores of (mostly) ideologically harmonious magicians to empower personal aims, even utilizing continually repeated religious ceremonies for such a purpose.

Thelemic groups in particular have tended to hold that by advancing the aeon, the personal opportunities of the magician are advanced as well.  Does Frater Barrabbas really hold that it is worse for a group of practitioners to come together on a magical holiday to put their skills – whatever they might be – to a common aeonic purpose, even if it is merely the binding and ultimate destruction of a mere ideological golem – than it is for them to routinely engage in the religious ritual veneration of aeonic constructs created by Western magicians of the recent past?

Apparently Barrabbas sees no problem in repeating the aeonic conjurations of “Secret Agent 666” (to borrow a moniker from the title of a recent scholarly work on Crowley by Richard Spence), who himself was so embroiled in political magick that he regarded publication of Liber AL as sufficient to instigate wars and took credit (after the fact) for “V for Victory”, but Barrabbas objects to contemporary magicians emulating the Beast in any similar regard, instead of merely imitating his ritual ingenuity.

The subject of the magical link is more pertinent, and lack of viable magical mink is probably the most common reason why aeonic magick may be ineffective, and we certainly don’t intend to argue that the magical link is irrelevant. However, the lack of such a link can still be overcome, as Frater Barrabbas actually seems to admit in his post.  Non-local consciousness can be accessed in a sufficiently deep trance state.  The intervention of spirits, egregores, and servitors can still be effective without a magical link.  Some currents of aeonic magick are sufficiently well-established psycho-historically, or so organically potent, that they can be drawn upon and activated in the right aeonic circumstances and then cascade into reality seemingly of their own accord.

Any or all of these techniques may have been used by any magical adepts participating in this very working – the simple spell we presented online was merely illustrative of how a binding spell against such a target might be performed.  Our expectation was certainly not that the performance of this specific spell, by any number of operators, would be any more effective than a massive prayer vigil.  It seems equally naïve, however, to believe that it would be less effective.  Most contemporary magical theory which has advanced beyond the rather crudely relativistic “energy model” accepts that in an information-based probabalistic paradigm, it only requires onesuccessful execution of a spell by one operator for it to take effect; multiplication of the number of operators either aids the spells of the more competent, raises the possibility that one caster’s spell will be successful, or both.

Ultimately Frater Barrabbas seems to prefer to present principles of sorcery as Laws of Magick.  Yet, magick is not science.  It certainly has empirical and even experimental components, but it is as much of an art as it is a craft.  The claims of a magician are not repeatable and not falsifiable, any more than those of a historian operating in the paradigm of the humanities rather than the social sciences. Perhaps this is part of why psycho-historic magic is effective; the magician is attempting to create observer effects, not reduce them.  The biases generated by the magician are meant to influence the caster, the target, and ultimately all of reality.

Magick does not operate based on laws.  Magick is a law – and a chaos – unto itself.  The effectiveness of magick cannot be explained by reference to some other belief system, paradigm, or model: magick is the reason why belief systems, paradigms, and models explain anything effectively.  We contend that magick is an art and craft of belief, and as such its effects are by definition global and pervasive.  One interpretation of “crossing the Abyss” would describe it as the transition which occurs when the relationship between the personal reality of the magician and the seemingly objective reality of the surrounding world becomes completely understood and therefore subject to direct influence by the magician.

Can confrontation with this boundary lead to delusion, obsession, hubris, arrogance, grandiosity, and even insanity or madness?  Of course it can.  But so can mysticism and religion.  So can politics.  The dangerous possibility that one might literalize the experience, or the effects, of any magical working will always remain.  As William S. Burroughs, probably one of the greatest magicians of the previous century, laconically remarked, “Magick is dangerous or it is nothing.”

Safe personal spells for prosperity and empowerment are the province of the novice; dangerous, uncertain, risky, and problematic experiments with the powerful forces that drive history should be the province of the adept, and part of doing those experiments is a willingness to occasionally experiment with the beliefs, participation, enthusiasm, and sincerity of others.  Political movements and religions have been born for far worse purposes.  An adept who is afraid to break the supposed “Laws of Magick” or transgress the often self-imposed limitations of possibility is no adept at all.  Magick is not a negotiation with the universe – it is an attack on reality.

BOOK REVIEW: Regardie's "The Golden Dawn" New Hardcover Edition by Llewellyn Publishing (Ed. John Michael Greer)

Llewellyn's long awaited new edition of Regardie's "The Golden Dawn" is out, edited by John Michael Greer. There have been high hopes for this new edition all across the Golden Dawn community. It is therefore unsurprising that the reaction from the community has been swift. Golden Dawn scholar, Dr. Tony Fuller, today set the tone for what I believe will be a coming avalanche of well deserved condemnation of this "new" edition.

      Dr. Fuller writes:
"A BRIEF PRELIMINARY NOTE ON THE NEW EDITION
      REGARDIE'S "GOLDEN DAWN"

"I have just received my copy and spent 30 minutes comparing it with the old version - and with original Hermes Temple/SM manuscripts. Some good points: It is attractively produced and importantly there is an index. The coloured diagrams section contains new versions of diagrams and additional ones. While these are not entirely to my liking in terms of style nevertheless they are a welcome addition. There are some additional diagrams and papers lacking from the previous edition and this too is a valuable change. Unfortunately, in my review, it is all down hill from there - every error- I repeat, every error and omission of words and paragraphs which appeared in previous editions also occur here. Not a single one has been corrected. To pick a few (from scores of errors) at random: on page 369 (Hexagram Ritual), line 6/7, after the word "Saturn" there should appear the sentence, "Similarly the Invoking Hexagram of Mercury is traced first from the lower left hand angle and the complimentary triangle from the angle of Jupiter." In the context of both the Pentagram and Hexagram rituals neither of the vital diagrams, coloured on a black background, are produced - just as they were omitted from Regardie. At the conclusion of the 3=8 ceremony both the old and new versions omit the final speech from the Hierophant: "In the name of Elohim Tzabaoth I declare this Temple closed in the 3=8 Grade of Practicus." All the same errors in the rituals are repeated here - knocks missing, words omitted or incorrect words used and so forth. For example, on page 334 it says, "....all the phantoms are banished." It should read, "have vanished": page 360, "great light in affirmation..." should be, "...light, in allusion to the affirmation." More importantly, on p.368, line 17/18 the word is not "Talisman" but "Telesma". Superficially the Grade Temple diagrams are a slight improvement but are still almost useless as working guides for ceremony for, apart from actual errors in a few cases, they completely lack any mention of the specific Grade diagrams and where these are placed in the Temple. I have yet to look closely at the treatment of the Z documents but suspect they are left in the same unsatisfactory state as in the previous editions: viz. errors, sentences and paragraphs missing, paraphrasing by Regardie etc.So is this edition an improvement on what went before? Yes - it has more diagrams - from the many previously lacking - it has a few additional papers (but with new errors I note); it has an index (very important) and it is easier to use. I like the continuous pagination and the page headings. So it is worth purchasing just for these improvements. But equally it is a huge disappointment that no effort - I repeat, no effort - was made to correct the numerous errors and significant omissions which appeared earlier. Access to original manuscripts, or copies, would have been relatively easy. Indeed I (and no doubt others) could have sent the editor a complete list of the necessary changes in a matter of minutes. So a great opportunity lost."
I concur with most of what Dr. Fuller writes above, although I disagree with his conclusion. A great opportunity has not been "lost" by Llewellyn. Llewellyn took the opportunity. They just used it for an agenda other than correcting the deficiencies of previous editions.

Having reviewed this so-called "new" hardcover edition myself now, the entire project appears to be little more than yet another scheme by Llewellyn to keep milking the Golden Dawn as a cash cow as Llewellyn has done for decades. This 'new" edition fully lives up to Llewellyn's reputation for publishing cheaply produced "Pulp Magick" books that rehash the same, identical material over and over, "ad nauseum."

There is precious little new, if anything, of Magickal value in this so-called "new" edition. In fact, there is precious little "new" at all, with the noteworthy exceptions of an index and, as expected, an attempt by Llewellyn at modern historical revisionism. With this "new" edition, Llewellyn attempts to rewrite modern Golden Dawn history, writing Cris Monnastre and her importance to the modern Golden Dawn revival completely out of it. In fact, the only major change I see in this work from previous editions is the deliberate omission of Cris Monnastre's fine introduction.

For those unfamiliar with Israel Regardie's life or his relationship with Cris Monnastre, she was Dr. Regardie's primary disciple towards the end of his life. It's important to note that Dr. Regardie so loved and believed in the Golden Dawn system of Magick that he and Cris Monnastre performed a 9 month series of rituals in the late 70's to call forth a Golden Dawn resurgence in America.

This 9 month working by Regardie and Monnastre, in my opinion, was directly responsible for the Golden Dawn revival of the last 30 years. In a very real sense, Dr. Regardie and Ms. Monnastre were the Magickal parents and progenitors of this revival, much as Moina and S.L. MacGregor Mathers and their Magickal operations were in large part responsible for the modern occult revival of the 20th Century. Any reference to all of this is carefully and completely omitted from the new Llewellyn edition.  Instead, Ms. Monnastre's introduction is merely eliminated without so much as a whisper of explanation. This is a "not so subtle" attempt by Llewellyn to manipulate the contemproary Golden Dawn community to favor Llewellyn's preferred factions.

Add to the attempted historical revisionism and the glaring failure to correct errors from previous editions, a whopping price tag of $65 for yet another Llewellyn "Pulp Magick" rehash, and you have an almost completely worthless "new" edition.

DAVID GRIFFIN PREDICTS THE FUTURE AGAIN:

Knowing Llewellyn's usual marketing, we can soon expect a whole series of fawning reviews of this edition, written by various presstitutes from Llewellyn's own stable of authors.

      My advice?

Don't waste your hard earned cash on yet another Llewellyn scheme trying to make a buck on the back of the Golden Dawn.  Save your money and spend it instead on something that at least contains some legitimately NEW material of authentic Magickal value. In this "new" edition, you will find nothing of the sort.

If you don't have Regardie's Golden Dawn book yet, you can all find ALL material available FREE on-line HERE. Or if you are into collecting printed books, you can always pick up a used copy of a previous edition for peanuts on Amazon.com - or you can wait to pick up this "new" edition from the remainder table of Barnes and Noble, where it rightly belongs.

I am certainly not trying to coerce you, and I am not telling you what to do, but here is an idea:

If you are unhappy about Llewellyn continuing to meddle in the affairs of the Golden Dawn community by trying to rewrite contemporary Golden Dawn history, there IS something you COULD do about it.

You might, for example, want to review the book, then take the time to drop by Amazon.com to give this "new" edition a review as the error-ridden rehash it actually is!

As an alternative, you might want to check out Pat Zalewski's "Golden Dawn Rituals and Commentaries," which actually contains additional material beyond what Regardie published already in 1937 and Llewellyn has uncritically repackaged "ad nauseum" for almost a Century. Here is the Zalewksi book cover.

Occult Tabloid Spurned by Rupert Murdoch

"A Voice Crying in fhe Wilderness"

Stinging from years of declining readership, the world's most ignored occult tabloid, "Watchers of the Griffin," was rebuffed by Rupert Murdoch's Newscorp last week, following the Paparazzi tabloid's desperate bid to survive by selling out to Newscorp.

For those unfamiliar with "Watcher of the Griffin," the tabloid's primary claim to fame has been desperately dogging my exploits over the years.

Newscorp execs today issued a statement explaining their position, declaring "why should we be interested in a would-be tabloid nobody reads in a niche market?"

Still smarting from the Murdoch rebuff, "Watchers" this week unveiled one last desperate attempt to remain relevant, this time giving itself a snazzy new look using Theme.co's new X-Theme.

The idea itself is probably not a bad one, although someone really ought to teach the paparazzi how to properly use the x-theme slider.

"You need to be able to actually READ the articles, not just look at the pretty slider!"

Well, at a minimum we ought to give the paparazzi kudos for at least trying to remain relevant. The only problem is:

      "NO ONE CARES!"

Occult Tabloid Attacks David Griffin's Free Golden Dawn Webinar This Saturday

Believe it or not, there are still people out there who are so envious of me that their lives are incomplete when they are not stalking me online.

      Occult Tabloid Paparazzi
By now, most of you know that - as a gift to the magical community- I will be giving away an amazing free webinar free this Saturday, February 27 at 12:00 PM PST, entitled:

"Demons and the Golden Dawn System of the Magick of Light"

I decided to make this webinar available free to the magical community because I was tired of certain black magicians spreading disinformation about the Magick of Light - silly stuff like the claim that all Magick other than Black Magick is really just "religion."

As you likely know already, the Golden Dawn system of Magick is not a religion, but a powerful technology for spiritual growth - one that can be used to achieve enlightenment, higher consciousness and ultimately - to become more than human.

Not unexpectedly, my announcement caused a bit of a stir among Black Magicians who jumped to some rather hasty conclusions, making some snarky remarks on Facebook, including one of them posting the fake hash tag #blackmagicianslivesmatter, which I pointed out on Facebook as insensitive to African Americans

The hilarious part came when my favorite on-line stalker, Morgan Eckstein, turned the truth on its head - falsely attributing the hash tag to me - in an attack article over on his failing tabloid, Gleamings of the Dawn. In Eckstein's long fantasy missive, he attacks the webinar and accuses me of everything from having invented that bizarre hashtag and to attacking every Black Magician alive today.

      Sigh.

I can understand Morgan being so obsessed with me. You see, nobody ever reads his failed tabloid, except when he is attacking me.

Seriously. Nobody ever reads that rag. But Eckstein knows that if he attacks me - his tabloid gets traffic.

He doesn't attack me - and nobody cares. Its a ghost town over there!

Speaking of which, people have been telling me that- besides turning the truth on its head - Eckstein's attack piece reads like a bad fantasy novel.

You're right! To be precise, the article reads like bad porn fantasy.

You shouldn't be surprised by this. It is only natural considering that Morgan Eckstein makes his living writing fantasy scripts for the porn industry.

Clearly, Eckstein is not very successful in porn either, otherwise his wife wouldn't need to hawk pottery on Etsy, just so they can pay their electric bill.

So, let's go help Morgan Eckstein out. Please go over to his blog and read his article HERE. Its good for a laugh and God knows that tabloid can desperately use the traffic.

While you are at it, I urge you to buy some pottery from Morgan's wife Khari on Etsy HERE. Why not help a pornographer make rent and keep the power company from shutting off their lights again. All kidding aside, I bought my wife some pottery from Khari at Christmas and my wife loves it. So, I urge you to check it out, despite her husband's morbid obsession with me.

Meanwhile, if you want to come to the webinar, you will need to act fast. You can still subscribe free to my mailing list at occultnewsnetwork.com. I will send login details for the Webinar to the list on Friday.

Be sure to get there early. The room seats only 99 Magicians and over 400 new subscribers joined the list this week, mostly because of the webinar.

      Dear reader,

I apologise if you who were uable to attend my recent webinar on "Demons and the Golden Dawn" as our present webinar room holds only 100 and filled up minutes after opening the classroom. Many people whose connection dropped were unable to get back in as there was a waiting list.

Clearly, we need to find a larger electronic venue. I am therefore going to try something really innovative by broadcasting the lectures of Magickall 2016 via livestream directly to our Golden Dawn YouTube channel.

This means that even if you can't make it to Nevada to participate live in MagickAll 2016, you can still catch the livestream on our YouTube channel here.

EXPOSED: Eminem's Golden Dawn Secret! - Revealed by David Griffin

      by David Griffin

If you have been around the magickal community for any length of time, you know already how fed up I am with rumors attacking the Golden Dawn - deliberately mixing us up with the Illuminati.

It seems that this garbage is never ending. This week, the latest in the stream of malicious gossip attacking our order comes from people surrounding rap star Eminem.

      Cory Scott wrote on Facebook:
"David Griffin, care to comment on the fact that the golden dawn's founder's great great grandson completely denounces witchcraft? Macgregor Mathers' great great grandson, marshall bruce mathers III. he's pretty famous, maybe you know him by his alias Eminem"

When I challenged Cory on this, he quoted to me Debbie Nelson's book, My Son Marshall, Setting the Record Straight on My Life as Eminem's Mother:

"He'd grown up hearing stories of a book about the black arts, apparently detailing the Mathers's links to witchcraft. We discovered a creepy British occultist called Samuel Liddel MacGregor Mathers, who'd founded the order of the Golden Dawn. He was an early mentor of the hedonistic witch Aleister Crowley. Bruce loved that. He was crazy about heavy metal music, and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page lived in Crowley's Scottish mansion. Now when Bruce bared his teeth at me and pretended to be a warlock, I was really frightened."
I am not sure where this rumor comes from, but it looks like Eminem is setting up another Illulminati hoax at the Golden Dawn's expense the way that wannabe pop star Ciara did recently.

If you don't know about Illuminati rumor attacks on the Golden Dawn yet, this episode of our show Magick 101 is a must:

Anyway, this latest Golden Dawn rumor surrounding yet another pop star is unsurprising.  This latest rumor is probably just another cheap publicity stunt at the Golden Dawn's expense. Like Ciara before him, Eminem has not in the past been above floating Illuminati rumors.

Let's get back to reality. Look. I hate to break it to you, Cory, but Moina and SL MacGregor Mathers never had any children! There was a niece - and Moina does have surviving relatives - one of whom I am in contact with - but they never had any kids!

      Sorry.

This Eminem Golden Dawn rumor is by no means the first time that someone falsely claims to be a direct descendant of Golden Dawn founder, SL MacGregor Mathers either.

For example, New Age flim flam artist, Gunni Gudnasson on his "Modern Mystery School" website HERE claims lineage all the way back to Jesus Christ and Adam. He also claims he was initiated into the Golden Dawn as a "Ypssissimus" by MacGregor Mathers long lost grandson: "Harold Mathers."

Oh, I forgot to mention that Gudnasson's website also once claimed that Gudni is the personal martial arts trainer of the Dalai Lama's bodyguards!

Sorry folks, I hate to break it to you, as fun as rumors like these are ...
